Disk defragmenter is a Windows tool that you can use to extend the life of your computer's hard drive. It performs well in terms of hard drive performance and rearranges fragmented data to improve the performance of your hard drive. You can schedule the use of disc defragmenter in addition to manually analysing and defragmenting your hard drive. To use the disc defragmenter, follow these steps.

How to disk defragmenter

    

Click on the start button.

   

Type Disk Defragmenter in search bar and Double-click on disc defragmenter.

   

Choose the drive you want to defragment under Current Status.

    

When Windows has finished analysing the drive, click Analyze Disk. The percentage of fragmentation on the disc may be seen in the Last Run column. You need to defragment the disc if the percentage is greater than 10%.

     

Depending on the size of your hard drive, clicking Defragment Disk will take several minutes or hours to complete. After it is finished, click Finish.
